Benreu/Mt.Pauna - Peren District

Benreu village in Peren district inhabited by Zeliangs is an epitome of nature's untouched beauty as it retains most of its age old charm and simplicity with nature and man in perfect synchrony. The meandering hills and paths lead one to the verdant vales nestled among the ridges where there is abundance of wild edible shrubs and fruits. Cool crispy water rushes along the brooks where fishes and other water creatures abound. Needless to venture into jungles to hear the birds and animals as it can be heard in the village itself, so it is nature's paradise, complete with an air of mysticism and reality.

Distance:
Dimapur
--> Heningkunglwa --> Jalukie --> Peren = 120 KMs.
Kohima
--> Jotsoma --> Khonoma --> Dzulekie --> Benreu = 67 KMs

Mt. Pauna tourist village is located towards the south of Benreu village along the Pauna mountain range. The resort has well maintained cottages with bedrooms and bathrooms with running hot/cold water beneath natural trees making the occupant feel close with nature. It also has a 3 storied restaurant cum dormitory.

The ideal season for visit starts from September to May, during which the sky is clear and surrounding peaks and valleys may be clearly seen. Winter is quiet cold but summers are pleasant.
